WHEN SHOULD I CLEAN MY EDC PISTOL?

Your everyday carry pistol is a last resort tool to protect life. Keeping it in working order is a must, so how often should you clean and lubricate your gun?

High quality pistols can have thousands of rounds through them without cleaning and work just fine. That isn’t a recommendation, but it is true among popular manufacturers like Glock, SIG Sauer or Smith & Wesson.

Your pistol HAS to work when you need it to protect and so with that in mind you should consider some semi-regular cleaning of at least every 200-500 rounds.

The textbook answer is that you should clean and inspect it after every range session. That may not be realistic or necessary for you. It's more reasonable to buy quality and maintain it every 200-500 rounds.

Your handgun is a tough tool but learning to field strip and clean it is basic gun ownership.
